Interesting design column

Ed Henninger writes a column addressing design issues and giving tips to work around them. Some of his insight is pretty interesting. I was reading through it today and found myself guilty of some of the aspects he brings up such as Cuzicans.

Sweet design tips! But for a design guru, his page's banner picture is pretty bad quality. Makes me question his judgment...

I thought it was interesting that he noted that ovals became popular in the '90s when Quark made it easy to draw them. And although I think it's good to be warned about doing things just cuz-u-can, I also think that the oval thing is only natural. Design, art, music etc have always been partly driven by technology. With almost every movement I have studied this semester (for my paper) a new invention or innovation played a key role in shaping the look of the times.
